Italy Part III - Florence

Florence quickly became our favorite city in Italy, with its vibrant markets, incredible leather goods, and countless bistros serving unforgettable gelato and desserts. From watching the sunrise over Tuscany atop the Duomo to indulging in Florentine steak and exploring historic landmarks like the statue of David and Ponte Vecchio, every moment felt magical. Between the breathtaking views, rich history, and delicious food, its a city I cant wait to revisit somedayhopefully with more time to explore Tuscanys countryside.

Florence was our favorite city that we visited in Italy. The city has tons of markets, leather shops, and tiny bistros with the most delicious desserts and gelato. I could have spent weeks exploring the city. Our first day, we went to the Duomo early in the morning and climbed to the very top. The view was unlike anything I had ever seen before. You could see all of Florence and Tuscany. We reached the top just as the sun was rising and it made for one of my favorite memories of our entire trip through Italy. Get there early, because it get's super crowded. We bought combination tickets when visiting the Duomo, so we also got to visit St. John's Baptistery, the Cathedral and Bell Tower, the Museum, and the Crypt. It was a great deal. You can purchase the pass at any of those places for just 23 euros/each. We also visited the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, which is known for its silver. It also holds Ian's favorite gelato shop, Bar Ponte Vecchio. We also visited the statute of David (the real one is at the University of the Arts,) the Basilica of San Lorenzo, and the Medici Chapel. Each of them were filled with so much history and art.Florence also has streets lined with market vendors who sell beautiful scarfs and leather products. We both stocked up on gorgeous leather handbags, luggage, and gifts for our family. Ian has a messenger bag he bought that he loves and uses every day. Florence is known for the Florentine Steak, so of course we tried it, multiple times. It did not disappoint. We also hiked up to Piazzale Michelangelo, which give you a beautiful few of Florence. As you can tell, Florence was one of our favorite cities. I would love to return one day and spend more time there, especially in the country side of Tuscany.
