Acorns & The Oak | Trunk Show

At The Southern Trunk, we believe in celebrating local businesses and the stories behind their products, which is why were thrilled to introduce our very first Trunk Show! Were kicking things off with Acorns & The Oak, a family-run business founded by my talented friend Lily. Her hand-painted wood signs featuring Scripture are not only beautiful but also serve as a meaningful way to surround yourself with Gods Word. Whether youre shopping for a custom piece or looking to support a heartfelt small business, Lilys creations are a perfect addition to any home. Check out her work on Etsy or through her email to bring a piece of her creativity into your space!

At The Southern Trunk, we value local vendors and businesses. Their products have people with meaningful stories behind them. That is why The Southern Trunk decided to host Trunk Shows. We want to highlight new lines and businesses that offer more than just a product but a story. We hope that as you check out our Trunk Shows that you enjoy the creative inspiration and people behind them. And go buy their products!I am very excited to share with you The Southern Trunk's very first Trunk Show! To kick it off, I want to highlight one of my good friends Lily and her business Acorns & The Oak. I love her handcrafted paintings and have some of them hanging in my own home.Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you started "Acorns & The Oak”My name is Lily, and I am the middle daughter of three girls. My mother, “the Oak” is a brilliant artist and has taught art in the classroom for many years. As a result, she has encouraged creativity in all of us and art is something we have always enjoyed doing both individually and as a family. While I have been doing art all my life, it wasn’t until I gave one of my paintings as a gift at a church baby shower that I received several requests to do more like it. Word spread via referral and I soon started taking special orders and that’s when I decided to make it official and I invited my sisters and mom to be a part of a collective business which includes wood and canvas paintings, clay pieces, sewed accessories, and much more. This past Christmas we participated in our first art fair together. We all have a different style which brings diversity and allows us to appeal to a wide range of customers. We have something for everyone! What inspired your new line?My most popular products are my hand painted wood signs with scripture on them. I started seeing the idea on places like Pinterest and Etsy and decided that was much cuter than our current method of sticky notes and expo marker on the mirror as a means of surrounding ourselves by the living and active word of God (Hebrews 4:12). It is a joy to be able to share my time and talents in order to spread the knowledge of God’s word to others.“The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)”“These words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).Where can we buy your products?Currently, the best way to buy our products is by email (send2roxymiller@yahoo.com) for sewed items such as baby blankets, kitchen towels, aprons, etc. and (mrs.lilyedwards@gmail.com) for painted items. If you have a specific verse or desired personalization, I can work to create that in a style and design that you would be proud to hang in your home or give as a gift. In addition, one can always ask via email what inventory we currently have available and we would be happy to email back some pictures (custom orders are usually done within a week). We also have an Etsy site www.etsy.com/shop/AcornsAndTheOak.What is your favorite thing about living in the South? My favorite thing about living in the South is the warm weather. I love the outdoors, and in Georgia you don’t have to save hiking and biking just for the warm months because chances are, even if it snows one day in January, later that week it could be 60’ and sunny. Here are a few of the products from the new line:We hope you enjoy Acorns & The Oak! Be sure to share below their products in your own home!
